Hi Friends and Members,
Everyone please continue to stay safe and healthy during these trying times.
Great news from Governor Cuomo’s Region by Region reopening plan.
1% to go!
Mr. Cuomo laid out a detailed plan for reopening last week, requiring each of 10 regions to fulfill seven metrics. Those include beefing up testing and contact tracing, ensuring hospital capacity, and showing sustained declines in virus cases and deaths.
On Monday, the 25th of May, New York City has met 4 of the 7 required metrics. We are 1% points away from Share of total hospital beds available and 1% points away from Share of ICU beds available.
The third metric that we are short on is the Contact tracers. That is marked “Expected”.
We need clarification from Governor Cuomo.
Is professional boxing part of the Governors plans?
“Starting today, all the New York professional sports leagues will be able to begin training camps,” the Democratic governor said during a news conference Sunday.
“I believe that sports that can come back without having people in the stadium, without having people in the arena — do it! Do it!” Cuomo said. “Work out the economics, if you can. We want you up. We want people to be able to watch sports. To the extent people are still staying home, it gives people something to do. It’s a return to normalcy. So we are working and encouraging all sports teams to start their training camps as soon as possible. And we’ll work with them to make sure that can happen.”
Today’s quote on fear is from John Lennon
“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”
We are looking forward to reopening Gleason’s Gym.
My gut feeling is now June 15th.
The Professional Cleaning Company CPR will completely sanitize and clean Gleason’s Gym prior to the reopening.
This is being made possible by our good friend DeCosta Headley. DeCosta has been a loyal member of Gleason’s for more than 30 years.
